QUESTION: Butler - what's the longest a football player has feigned injury after failing to win a free kick?
BUTLER: In 1998, Gianluca Rossi of Italian club Lazio went down in the 85th minute of a Serie A game under a light challenge by Inter Milan's Paolo Maldini. After rolling in agony five times, Rossi lay motionless on the grass until the 90th minute while play continued around him. He then continued to lie there until the next home game two weeks later. During that time he lost four stone, had the grass mown around him and missed his wife's funeral. Ninety seconds into the next home game, after winning a free kick by unwittingly springing the off-side trap, Rossi got up and managed to run the injury off.
